PBAT Instruction:

Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT), also known as polybutylene terephthalate, is a semi-aromatic, biodegradable thermoplastic copolymer that can be easily molded and thermoformed. Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate is a random copolymer of 1,4-butanediol, adipic acid, and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) monomers. PBAT has many attractive properties similar to polyethylene. For example, poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate has a relatively high elongation at break (30-40%).

Poly Butylene Adipate-Co-Terephthalate Description:

In recent years, poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) has been widely used. The degradation mechanism was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray diffraction and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that the strain was able to secrete 10.53 U/mL of lipase activity. The lipase secreted by this strain catalyzed the degradation of ester bonds in poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate, resulting in degradation products such as terephthalic acid, 1,4-butanediol and adipic acid.

Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate is a thermoplastic biodegradable plastic, which is a copolymer of butylene glycol adipate and butylene glycol terephthalate. Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate has characteristics of both PBA and PBT, good ductility and elongation at break, as well as good heat resistance and impact properties; in addition, poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate has good biodegradability, making poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate one of the most popular and best degradable materials for biodegradable plastic research and market applications.

Poly Butylene Adipate-Co-Terephthalate Characteristics:

PBAT is a semi-crystalline polymer with a typical crystallization temperature of about 110°C and a melting point of about 130°C. The density of PBAT is between 1.18g/ml and 1.3g/ml. Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate has a crystallinity of about 30% and a Shore hardness of over 85. PBAT is a copolymer of aliphatic and aromatic, combining the excellent degradation properties of aliphatic polyesters with the good mechanical properties of aromatic polyesters. PBAT has very similar processing properties to LDPE. The processing properties of PBAT are very similar to LDPE and can be blow molded with LDPE processing equipment.
