NMP

N-methylpyrrolidone Harms:

Overview of hazards: flammable liquid and vapor. Will cause irritation to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
Skin: N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone can cause itching, redness, peeling and hives. It can be quickly absorbed through the skin and can transport other dissolved toxins into the body.
Eyes: Irritating to eyes and can cause corneal burns.
Inhalation: May cause respiratory irritation, headache, nausea, dizziness and drowsiness.
Ingestion: can cause dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, cramps and chills.
Delayed effect: can cause liver and kidney damage.

First-aid:

Skin: Rinse skin with water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and safety shoes. Seek medical attention if irritation or any other symptoms occur.
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

Fire Fighting Methods Extinguish fire with carbon dioxide, dry chemicals or foam.

Splashes or Other Spills:
Always wear recommended personal protective equipment, remove ignition sources, and isolate spilled areas.
If possible, use tools to hold and recover spilled liquid. Absorb a small amount of spilled liquid with an inert material and place it in an approved chemical waste container. For large spills, the application of inert materials will spill the area. Enclose the embankment and transfer it into the same container as above, not allowing it to flow into the sewer or drainage ditch.

Storage Recommendations:

Keep this product in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from heat, ignition sources and incompatible substances.
This product should keep the container upright and tightly closed. Physical damage to the container should be avoided. Do not reuse the container.
Empty containers may contain residual product and/or vapors. Unwashed empty containers should be labelled as a warning.

Engineering control: Ensure that adequate mechanical ventilation is provided. Local ventilation should be used at the place where this product is loaded, unloaded or transferred.

Personal protective equipment:
Skin protection: impermeable protective clothing should be worn, including work shoes, gloves, laboratory clothes, aprons or work clothes to avoid contact with liquids.
Eye protection: Wear non-porous protective glasses during routine operation. Determine whether to use goggles or full face masks according to the number of products and the environment in which they are used.
Respiratory protection: No protective measures are required in well-ventilated areas. If there is a potential for inhalation of vapour or mist, a NIOSH approved respirator should be used.
caveat! Air purifying respirators cannot protect workers in an oxygen-deficient environment. The respirator should be selected according to the degree of contamination of the work area and the environment in which it is used. The operating environment must not exceed the working limit of the respirator.
